Language and Gender

One topic that I felt was very important was language and gender. I was taken aback by the simple everyday words that are sexist and almost have a negative connotation. There were great tips on alternatives top make the speech less biased. Also using powerful language will help audience see you more as a person with confidence. There are different phrases that women will say that eludes different meaning. The entire topic was very interesting. Hedges also portray uncertainly. I use this several times during conversations. I think that chapter 10's information on dialect is very helpful not only in my normal speech, but simple tips that can make you seem more confident and assured of certain topics. Using spoken language with a minimal biased perspective is key.
Also chapter 10 talks about audience centered language. These tips help gear language so that audience help not only understand your message but feel apart of their speech. I think that when you make speech geared towards your audience, speaker are more probable in gaining what the message it truly about. I want to make sure that my audience center language becomes appealing.
